Description & Condition

ZON is a bass brand founded in 1981. Its designs, which actively incorporate new materials such as Graphite and Phenowood, are highly acclaimed and favored by artists like tetsuya and Michael Manring. (Titles omitted)

While ZON offers several models, this is the SONUS, which features a more classic style.

In contrast to the set-neck LEGACY, the SONUS has a Bolt-on neck joint. It possesses a quick Response and Attack, making it a model designed with a somewhat Fender-like Sound in mind.

The specs are standard for a ZON SONUS: a Carbon neck, Phenowood fingerboard, and Ash body.

Phenowood is made by laminating multiple layers of wood, impregnating them with black dye and thermosetting resin, and compressing them under high heat. The shrinkage and expansion rate of the wood itself becomes extremely low, providing a level of stability incomparable to general lumber.

The pickups are Bartolini, and the preamp is also a Bartolini NTMB.

While it has a very chic appearance, the sound leaves a similar impression. The very Pure and Clear Sound combined with a direct sense of Response gives it a unique character.

Being a 4-string model, the open texture of the sound is also a very attractive point.

The fret wear is approximately 10% (90% remaining). Neck Status: The neck is maintained with a slight Relief. Since this is a ZON from an era without a Truss rod, it is impossible to adjust this, but the condition is not bad. While we would prefer to adjust it a bit straighter by GIB standards, observing the neck mounting angle and the current Saddle height suggests that this state might have been the intended recommendation. It is currently playable without issues at GIB's standard Setup (2.0mm for the G string and 2.5mm for the E string at the 12th fret). Body Status: There are some Scratches and Dents, but no prominent damage that exposes the wood. Electronics Status: Excellent. Modifications: None found.

Controls: Master Volume, Balancer, Middle, Middle Freq. SW, Bass/ Treble Nut Width: 40.0mm String Spacing at Bridge: 19.0mm Scale: 34Inch Year of Manufacture: 1993 Country of Manufacture: US

The instrument will be delivered after being adjusted by GIB's skilled technicians for optimal playability.
