Description & Condition
Fender is undoubtedly the number one brand of electric guitars and basses.
It's beloved by countless top artists, including James Jamerson, Bobby Vega, and Michael League. (Titles omitted)
The Precision Bass was introduced in 1951 as the world's first fretted solid-body electric bass and has been beloved by bassists worldwide for over half a century.
This Precision Bass was manufactured in 1971.
The tone pot date is 304-7116, indicating 1971.
Other overall specifications were taken into consideration to determine the age.
The body is alder, and the fingerboard is rosewood with rounded edges, popular specifications.
The pickups are original gray bobbins.
The volume and tone pots appear to be original.
The capacitors are circle D. The jack has been replaced with a current SWITHCRAFT model.
It has been refretted, and the nut has been replaced accordingly.
While the nut height for the second string is slightly low, the neck relief above the frets is very clean and good.
This bass features a distinctive, deep low range and open midrange that is characteristic of a Precision Bass.
With its unchanged standard specs, it fits in with all genres, including R&B, rock, and pop.
It seems like this is an era where it would particularly shine with funk.
Don't miss this opportunity!
Approximately 70% of the frets remain.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and finish show signs of age-appropriate wear, such as dents, scratches, and cracked paint. There is a crack in the pickguard that appears to have been caused by a pot being tightened too tightly.
As for the electrical system, there is slight gouging about 60-70% of the way around when turning the volume pot.
The bass has been refretted, and the nut replaced accordingly. While the nut height for the second string is slightly low, the neck relief above the frets is very clean and good. The jack has been replaced with a current CTS. Some soldering appears to have been reworked.
