This model is a replacement pickup for 4-string jazz basses.
EMG is famous for its style with a built-in buffer (preamp), but this is a passive style.
It uses ceramic/steel magnets and stacked coil style.
Since hum cancellation is performed by itself, there is no noise even when the balancer is shaken.
EMG's typical low noise, wide range, and speedy sound is also available in passive style.
