De Gier is a Dutch brand founded in 1996 by Sander De Gier.
He originally focused on creating distinctive and modern bass guitars, but now primarily produces products emphasizing Fender-style designs.
While the brand was already highly regarded, since releasing the BeBop, a JB-style model, its exceptional quality has kept him completely occupied with production.
Currently, in addition to Fender-style models, they also offer unique models incorporating Thunderbird-style designs.
This model is their mega-hit, the BeBop 5.
Marcus Miller purchased a prototype of this model, and Richard Bona soon followed suit with an order.
It continues to be highly regarded by true musicians like them.
The body is made of alder, and the fretboard is rosewood—a classic combination that produces a rich midrange.
The pickups are Lindy Fralin.
These are custom-wound original models made exclusively for the BeBop 5.
It features a custom Fatboost function from Vanderkley.
By slightly boosting the low frequencies and reducing high-frequency loss due to lower impedance, it gives the impression of boosting both low and high frequencies simultaneously.
While the sound is already complete in passive mode, simply pushing it a little further seems to deliver an even more powerful impact.
This minimalist yet highly effective design is sure to impress all bassists.
The third knob is the passive tone control, but the push-pull switch allows you to adjust how the tone is affected.
When rolling off the tone, sometimes you want to significantly round off the high frequencies for a warmer sound, and other times you want to strongly emphasize the high-mids.
Normally, these would be adjusted by the capacitor choice, but this function makes it easy to choose either.
The fourth knob is a rotary switch that turns the Fatboost on and off.
Despite being a 5-string bass, it retains a pleasant, open nuance with a nice low-mid range on the 3rd and 4th strings, and a rich, harmonically rich midrange on the 1st and 2nd strings.
And the 5th string retains the trebly, characteristic feel of a JB, overflowing with vibrant pitch.
This is exactly what we've been looking for in a 5-string JB.

The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and paintwork show some dents, scratches, and feather checking, but due to the aged finish, it's impossible to determine if these are later-acquired damages.

●Defect Warranty
Basic Co., Ltd. provides a warranty against defects for products sold by the company. The warranty period is 3 months for used products and 1 year for new products.
