Because the Beyond Tube Booster was designed as a pure vacuum tube booster, it did not use any amplifying elements such as ICs or FETs. As a result, it was designed to not low the output impedance. In response to requests for this, the Beyond Tube Buffer + was designed to operate as a buffer rather than a booster. Furthermore, this model, the 2S, is an upgraded version of the Beyond Tube Buffer +. The upgraded circuit has been redesigned, improving resolution and significantly reducing noise. Furthermore, while the previous model had a footswitch that allowed you to switch the signal output between Output and Tuner Out, the Tuner Out and footswitch have been eliminated in the 2S. As expected of a modern effects pedal, it has a wide range, so you don't lose the ultra-low frequencies and beautiful presence of a multi-string bass. Just like a booster, simply passing it through the Buffer+ significantly increases the density from the low to mid frequencies, and gives you the distinctive tube nuances of a slight compression and saturation. In comparison, the Buffer+ feels like it has a wider upper range. This is likely due to the low output impedance. As a product, it is designed to give modern digital and transistor amps a tube-like nuance, but I would recommend using it with a bass. In many situations, bassists must primarily use a line sound via a DI. In those cases, they often feel that the lack of amp-like fat nuance makes it difficult to play or leaves them feeling unsatisfied. In such situations, the Beyond Booster and Buffer should fill in the warmth and thickness that cannot be obtained with line or compact, lightweight amps. For the vacuum tubes, Electro Harmonix 12AU7EH tubes were used, prioritizing sound over cost. With regard to other electronic components, we prioritized performance without any cost-cutting measures that would compromise functionality or quality. The volume knob has been deliberately placed on the side, eliminating the need for a knob. We recommend the Beyond Tube Booster for old-school bassists, and the Beyond Tube Buffer+ for modern bassists. Try this authentic product, not just a gadget.
