AV Basses is a high-end Czech bass brand that gained significant attention after Jamiroquai bassist Paul Turner began using its instruments.
The brand was founded in the 1990s by professional bassist Ales Vychodil.
At the time, many major manufacturers were supplying a wide range of basses to the market, but none could fully meet his demands. To satisfy his own needs as a player, he began building custom basses himself.
In the 2000s, AV Basses began manufacturing instruments as an OEM for boutique brands in Europe and the United States, establishing a strong reputation for its exceptional craftsmanship and manufacturing expertise.
This model is based on the classic JB style while incorporating a number of modern features.
The body is made from Alder, while the neck and fingerboard are crafted from Roasted Maple featuring striking Birdseye figuring.
The playing feel has a broken-in quality, almost as if the bass has been played extensively for many years.
The pickups are Nordstrand Big-J Blade, paired with an original 3-band preamp.
The controls consist of Volume with an active/passive switch, Balancer, Treble, which functions as a passive tone control, and Middle/Bass.
The tuning machines and bridge are made by HIPSHOT.
The sound combines beautiful harmonic content with a wide frequency range and powerful character.
It feels like a thoughtful, modern update of the classic JB concept, resulting in an instrument that should feel right at home in the hands of many modern professional bassists.
Approximately 80% of the fret life remains.
The truss rod is in good condition.

The body and finish have a few minor dings and scratches, but overall, the instrument can be considered to be in excellent condition.
