Athlete is a Japanese brand that was produced in small quantities in the 1990s.
This is the AX-4, an acoustic bass made of gorgeous woods.
The body top is Spruce, the sides and back are beautiful Flame Maple, and the neck is quarter-sawn Maple laminated with 3P.The fingerboard is Ebony.

The volume is loud enough to enjoy without an amp.
