D'mark Guitars is a Brazilian guitar brand that has been around since 1998.
The brand is highly regarded for its competence, particularly in South America, and in recent years has made a name for itself in Europe and the USA.
This model is a JbX8 from the MASTER SERIES, specially built for Japan on order from GIB.
Therefore, the words "Custom Built For Japan Only" are engraved on the back of the head.
The bass is made from a combination of fine woods from Brazil, a country rich in forest resources.
The body top has EXOTIC BUCKEYE.
As you can see, it is a super S-grade wood and is finished with a unique colouring.
The body back is made of BRAZILIAN MAHOGANY.
The neck is BRAZILIAN HARD MARFIM.
This is an unfamiliar wood, but due to its high strength it is used to make heavy duty items such as floors and chairs.
So it is perfect for the neck.
The fingerboard is made of HARD MAPLE.
Combined with chic block inlays.
Pickups and pre-amp are original.
3-band EQ with controls for volume, balancer, treble, middle, bass, pre-amp bypass sw and middle frequency switch sw.
Unlike the Alpha and Omega, the JbX8 is somewhat more JB-like.
The layout of the PUs closer to the bridge may be a concern, but it is by no means a negative impression.
Rather, I feel that the tight and strong bass range is brought out well, without erasing the fullness of the sound.
There are nuances that connect seamlessly from the low B string to the G string, allowing the player's musical sensibilities to be fully expressed.
Although South American instruments are high quality and unique, many of them are so unique that many brands have been difficult to find in electric basses, which are mainly North American in style.
However, this brand, which has gained a growing reputation in recent years, mixes North American styles with a more familiar finish.
