Artists such as Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Foo Fighters, and The Who are known to use Ashdown.
This is Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler's signature bass head amp.
Although it is a signature model, it is actually a gem that we confidently recommend to all bass players who aspire to become professionals because of its sound and various controls.
Generally, bass amps are equipped with a 3-band equalizer, but this one has a 9-band equalizer.
Needless to say, the ability to make fine adjustments at levels not normally possible is fascinating.
The ASHDOWN's unique subharmonic generator is of course provided.
It feels more like an effect to thicken the tone than a simple octaver.
One of the distinctive controls is DOOM.
This was created for the Geezer Butler and is a distortion using a vacuum tube (12AX7).
It is deeply distorted, yet brazen and powerful. It is the best.
DOOM, EQ can be turned on/off by a dedicated footswitch (ASHDOWN FS-4). (Only the slider part of the EQ is turned on/off.)
The input and output are each equipped with a meter so that you can visually check the magnitude of the signal.
This is very useful for sound creation.
There are many input and output terminals, but the SLAVE INPUT and ISOLATED INSTRUMENT OUTPUTS are the most distinctive.
These are used when you want to use one signal with multiple head amps.
You might say that this is a specification only possible with the Geezer Butler, which is capable of handling large stages.
The sound is vast and powerful, like a big, heavy amp with full tubes.
It has a moderately comfortable amp-like feel, but it feels natural without any weird quirks.
This is a great bass amp.
