Xotic is a brand founded by Japanese builder Hiro Miura in LA.
In Japan, Yoshiteru Takahashi, BJ of indigo jam unit, Katsuji Morioka and many other famous musicians outside Japan, such as Chuck Rainey, Rhonda Smith and Travis Carlton, are using the brand.
This is a special one custom-ordered by GIB.
The XJ series has been highly regarded, especially by studio workers, as a line manufactured in Japan.
It is basically made in the Fender manner, but with some modern updates.
The neck joint position is slightly different from the usual, and you will notice that it is easier to get your left hand into the high position when you hold it up.
This arrangement is for the modern musician who uses the entire fingerboard fully.
The body is specified in Alder and the fingerboard in Rosewood.
The fretboard is slightly longer and has a 22-fret specification.
The paint is lacquer and the colour was requested in CAR and 3TS multi-layer, Heavy Aged.
It has a classic look and sound.
The tuning machine is a HIPSHOT Ultralite.
The bridge is usually the original style, but this time a HIPSHOT Style B was specified as a custom order.
The PU is a Raw Vintage.
This is handmade in California and is characterised by its clear, crisp and raw output.
It is more sensitive to the player's fingertips than before.
The Neck PU is deeper, the Bridge PU is more sculpted and the mix provides a clearer, tighter low end.
The preamp is an Xotic original.
Controls include Neck volume (active/passive switch SW), Bridge volume (series/parallel switch SW), passive tone, treble, middle, bass, middle frequency switch SW, treble frequency switch SW.
The sound is neat, with a pleasant harmonic overtone while maintaining a sufficient bass range.
The performance is very high, and the overall level is high.
Especially for session and studio musicians, a traditional sounding JB with a modern performance and preamp is always in demand.
However, there are not many products that satisfy this demand in terms of quality.
