Widely known in South America, Swan Custom Basses has been increasing its presence in Europe and the United States in recent years.
The main feature of these basses is the mix of traditional flavor in the sound, while incorporating a great deal of modern design and convenience.
The unique body design is eye-catching, but it provides very good balance whether standing or sitting.
The ash body is finished in a beautiful blue finish.
The design and precision of the neck area is excellent, and while the string height is low, the string vibration is as powerful as an acoustic.
The neck is 3-ply maple, and the fingerboard is also maple, but this one is 1-ply.
The sound is smooth and powerful.
It is wonderfully smooth to play, yet the sound that comes out is juicy.
The sound is fat and warm, but with a sense of speed.
Playing this bass is a wonderful experience for the player and makes you want to play it forever.
The pickups are Triple Agent made by Lake Pickups in Argentina, and the preamp is Mike Pope Preamp, which is also used in Fodera.
The pickups are switchable between humbucker modern, humbucker, and single coil.
Controls are volume/tone, balancer, bass/treble, low mid, high mid, 2 PU switching switches (single coil, humbucker, humbucker modern mode), and active/passive switching switch.
The back cover is held on by magnets and can be removed without tools.
As well as sound and playability, this kind of usability is strongly felt in this brand.
(This was also true during our correspondence with them.)
South American bass brands have long shown high potential, but because of their uniqueness, they have not been well accepted in the Japanese market. (Perhaps the high cost of imports due to their location on the other side of the globe is one reason.)
) However, Swan has skillfully incorporated these unique characteristics into a sophisticated design that is typical of contemporary bases.
This is a new style that is neither European nor North American.
A must-try for all bassists.
