Sire became famous as a brand that released basses supervised by Marcus Miller.
The quality of the guitars and basses they produce is very high, and they are highly supported by people other than Marcus Miller fans.
This one is based on a jazz bass.
The body is made of Alder and the fingerboard is Ebony.
The finish of the fingerboard and frets is outstanding.
It is finished in a high quality that is comparable to higher priced basses in this price range, of course.
The original PU is matched with an active circuit, as is Marcus' style.
These are named Marcus Super-J Revolution Set and Marcus Heritage-3 with Middle Frequency Control.
The controls are numerous: volume, tone, balancer, bass, middle, middle frequency, treble, and active-passive switching SW, but they are reasonably well organized for a bassist.
The sound is tight but rich in overtones, and powerful with just the right amount of comp.
