Description & Condition
Sire gained instant fame as the brand releasing basses supervised by Marcus Miller.
The quality of their guitars and basses is exceptionally high, earning strong support even beyond Marcus fans.
This is their new model, the P6-4.
If their usual models represent a classic style, this one embodies a more modern aesthetic.
The body top uses Ash, while the back employs Mahogany.
This likely utilizes high-quality Indonesian Mahogany, ensuring both visual appeal and sound performance.
The finish on the fingerboard and frets is outstanding.
While expected in this price range, the high quality holds its own even when compared to higher-priced models.
The pickup layout features a PB-type split coil plus a JB-type single coil.
This is the so-called PJ style.
Controls are mounted directly on the body top, eliminating a control plate.
These are named the Marcus Super-PJ Revolution Set Pickup set and Marcus Heritage-3 (No-Mid Frequency).
Controls include Volume, Tone, Balancer, Treble, Middle, and Bass (push-pull switch for active/passive mode).
While models like the P7 featured a mid-frequency control, this model employs a simpler control layout.
In that sense, it could be considered a more classic active bass.
Furthermore, by fixing the midrange band, the manufacturer has designed a more intentional overall sound.
This is something only the current Sire, with its accumulated knowledge from numerous products, could achieve.
The sound is well-balanced across the entire range, characterized by a crisp tone.
It should satisfy even those who regularly play a JB.
