Sago is a handmade guitar brand based in Hyogo that specializes in fully custom-made guitars that fulfill all customer requests.

Their regular models (although most are one-offs), created using the knowledge and skills they have cultivated over many years, are also highly acclaimed.

The brand is also trusted by musicians, with Sago artists including Tabuchi from UNISON SQUARE GARDEN, RIO from Mary's Blood, and Kusakari from Sakanaction.

This model is the Ove, an original model favored by many artists.

One thing worth noting is that despite the metallic color, it has a beautiful see-through finish that brings out the wood grain.

The body is made of alder.

I ordered a chic wrap paint for the color.

The finish is elegant, beautiful, and stunning.

The wrap paint is understated, which is great.

One thing worth noting is the use of carbon fiber for the neck.

The neck is balanced to avoid being too stiff, and there is indeed a strong organic nuance in the sound.

A neck that is too stiff can have a strong, inorganic nuance in the sound, which can have a negative impact, but this model does not have that effect.

The tuning machines are HIPSHOT Ultralite, and the bridge is HIPSHOT Style B.

I could have gone with GOTOH, but I chose HIPSHOT to incorporate a Western nuance into both the sound and the look.

For the pickups, I chose the newly developed Lx BSP.

This is a split-coil push-pull layout that has been gaining popularity in recent years, placed in the JB pickup position.

In fact, Baltolini pickups such as MTD often use split coils.

One thing worth noting is that even on their own, they produce a noiseless, thick sound.

The neck pickup has a truly push-pull, open, fat sound, and the bridge pickup is also thick, giving them the strength to stand up to an ensemble even on their own.

Yet when mixing, it produces a crisp sound with scooped mids, so it's no wonder it's so highly rated.

Controls include volume (push/pull - active/passive), balance, treble, and bass.

Even in passive mode, there's already a sufficient amount of low end and thickness, making it possible to create a sound that primarily relies on passive sound.

As a result, the EQ is effective in both boosting and cutting.
In fact, there aren't many basses that offer this kind of control.

A balanced guitar that is typical of Sago, showcasing high design expertise in all aspects.
