Sago is a handmade guitar brand based in Hyogo, and they specialize in fully custom-made guitars that meet all of their customers' requests.
Their regular models (although most of them are one-offs) are also highly acclaimed, utilizing the knowledge and skills they have cultivated over the years.
Sago is also a brand that is highly trusted by musicians.
Tabuchi from Unison Square Garden, RIO from Mary's Blood, and Kusakari from Sakanaction are all Sago artists.
This model is a replica of the classic JB, custom-ordered from GIB.
The body is made of alder and the fingerboard is made of rosewood.
We specified a classic wood composition.
What is particularly noteworthy is the high-quality aging and the real vintage sound.
The staff who applied this aging were formerly employees of Fender, and were on the team of Carlos Lopez, a highly acclaimed master builder.
Carlos' team mainly worked on relic processing, and was highly acclaimed both inside and outside the company.
This model was made possible thanks to a builder with such a history.
We started by reviewing the paint, and thoroughly examined every detail to improve the quality, including the method of creating the paint film and the method and condition of the aging process, and we had them apply a high-quality aging process.
The paint is made with lacquer, and the paint made with multi-layer colors is finished with a heavy aging process.
I think the way this multi-layer is made varies depending on the builder.
In this case, the paint film is layered as thinly as possible with an image of overlacquer, creating a realistic multi-layer finish.
Everything else is completely normal.
If I had to say, I specified HIPSHOT tuning machines.
However, for the bridge, I specified a more classic spiral type rather than HIPSHOT. (After testing, I decided to use Wilkinson.)
As a result, I feel that this bass has achieved a high level of perfection as a vintage replica that is unlike any other.
It is treble-heavy, but has density in the lows, and although it feels light to play, the sound coming out of the speakers is inversely proportionally loud.
This is a truly wonderful piece.
I would like to let musicians around the world know that basses like this can be made in Japan as well.
I hope that all Japanese people will be able to play one in the store as soon as possible.
As a side note, I have fond memories of Carlos, the craftsman who created this aged guitar and who was my boss when I was at Fender.
We had a mutual acquaintance, and in 2019, he invited me to his home in California.
At the time, he wasn't a master builder yet, but he worked as a member of the Custom Shop and made some incredible guitars.
I feel a connection with Carlos, as his apprentice has joined Sago.

For instruments purchased at our store, you can use the ""string vibration setup"" (usually 4,400 yen) free of charge forever. (Reservation required)

● Repurchase price guarantee

● Defect guarantee
Products sold by Basic Co., Ltd. are guaranteed against defects.
