Sago is a handmade guitar brand based in Hyogo, specializing in fully custom-made instruments that fulfill every customer request.
Their regular models—though most are essentially one-offs—are also highly regarded, crafted using the knowledge and skills honed over many years.
Sago is a brand deeply trusted by musicians.
Artists like Mr. Tabuchi of UNISON SQUARE GARDEN, Mr. RIO of Mary's Blood, and Mr. Kusakari of Sakanaction are listed as Sago artists.
This model is a replica of the JB custom-ordered from GIB.
The body is Alder, finished in a matte black color.
By unifying everything, including the hardware, in black, we aimed for a mature look.
Notably, the neck incorporates carbon fiber.
It's balanced to avoid excessive stiffness, and indeed, the sound exhibits a strong organic nuance.
Necks with excessive rigidity can impart an inorganic, unnatural sound quality that can be perceived negatively, but this model avoids that issue.
The tuning machines are specified as HIPSHOT Ultralite paddle pegs, and the bridge is HIPSHOT Style B.
GOTOH would have been an option too, but HIPSHOT was chosen to incorporate that Western nuance in both sound and looks.
The pickup is the Lx JB5.
Controls are kept simple: 2 Volume + 1 Tone.
The characteristic Sago low-end punch pairs perfectly with the snappy feel of the carbon neck, which isn't overly stiff, resulting in a tone that's both powerful and lively.
Both visually and sonically, this is a quintessential Sago instrument, showcasing their exceptional design balance in every aspect.
