Description & Condition
Sadowsky is a New York high brand whose customers include top musicians such as Marcus Miller and Will Lee.
Until now, Metroline has been manufactured in Japan, but after Warwick took over the distribution of Sadowsky products, the manufacturing location was changed to the Warwick factory in Germany.
Since the Metroline models originally made in Japan were highly acclaimed, some were concerned about a decline in quality, but there is no need to worry about an overreaction when looking at the actual product.
The neck feels a little thinner than the one made in Japan, and there are also differences in the roundness of the body joint.
This is a limited production Metroline gem with a quilted mahogany body top.
Only 125 of the 4-string and 5-string models were produced in limited quantities, and only 15 were shipped to Japan.
GIB has secured one each of the 4-string and 5-string.
The use of Okume for the body back is also a unique feature.
Warwick, the manufacturer, has a large amount of ash and alder exclusively for Sadowsky, but I think the use of Okume here was made with the combination with the top wood in mind.
The old Metro line used a solid body.
The new Metroline, however, has a chambered body like the NYC.
This makes the weight light enough to reach the low 3 kg range.
The neck is made of roasted maple, and the fingerboard is made of Honduran rosewood.
The PU is said to be different from both the old Metroline and NYC, but it feels neat and beautifully designed sounding.
It is not peaky and seems easy to handle.
The excellent electronics produce a powerful sound even at low string heights.
Both playability and sound quality are balanced at a high level.
Warwick is great for producing such a great piece of work that sets the world standard.
A really well made bass. Highly recommended.
