Runt Guitars is a handmade guitar brand from Hokkaido, Japan, started in 2016 by builder Mr. Goto.
I had the opportunity to try it out once right after the brand started, and from the beginning they were producing basses of truly excellent quality.
Personally, I really like the modern style, which has a lot of individuality but also has universal value.
However, at that time, I did not have many opportunities to work as a musical instrument store.
The reason we started this transaction was after visiting the RUNT GUITARS booth at the 2023 Guitar Show.
I tried the instrument again and it was still great, so I quickly decided to start a business.
I placed an order around the summer of 2023, and it has finally arrived in the winter of 2024.
This is a brand that takes a lot of time to make each piece with great care. (I think you'll understand once you see the actual product in stock.)
The fact that the brand has received strong support, especially from overseas users, right after its launch may be an unusual point for a Japanese brand.
The HUCHO4 Standard I ordered this time aimed to make his concept as pure as possible.
This model is basically based on JB.
However, I think you can see from the images that you can get a glimpse of the brand's commitment and concept in details such as the outer radius of the body, contours, and joints.
The body is Swamp Ash and finished in a beautiful see-through white.
The fingerboard is Rosewood, and the neck is simply maple.
The pickguard uses Birch Burl and is also painted.
The difference in texture from the body is noticeable.
The frets are Jescar stainless steel, medium-high size.
The PU is EMG J, and the bridge and tuning machine are GOTOH.
It feels very light to play.
The carefully crafted neck supports comfortable playability.
The sound is fast and clear, but it's fresh and never feels inorganic.
I feel that the goodness of EMG is fully demonstrated.
The quality of the original acoustic part probably supports this.
Although it is a truly wonderful base, please note that due to the characteristics of the paint, there may be some small scratches and cracks, especially on the pickguard.
