Kikuchi Guitars is a new high-end brand created by Yoshiyuki Kikuchi (and Okada International), who has earned the utmost trust from many professional bassists, particularly for his work with Sadowsky.
This model is based on the renowned JB, refining his previous work to create a more modern bass.
As all are custom models, there are no fixed woods, but weight is a particular priority for the body, and some woods are chambered.
This particular guitar features a spruce top and an African mahogany back.
Chambering has been used to reduce weight.
The neck is made of beautifully grained roasted flame maple, and the fingerboard is cocobolo.
It's precisely because it's not a classic construction that the look is unique and beautiful, and the sound has a strong sense of individuality and consistency.
The pickups are split-coil types manufactured by DiMarzio.
This is similar to the ones used when the Sadowsky Metroline was made in Japan.
Its distinctive features are its low noise and treble.
The preamp is a custom type designed by EMG specifically for this model.
Its simple design only boosts bass and treble.
And it's a natural fit.
When boosting, the mid-range recess peaks exquisitely, and the sound evolves into a clear, stylish transformation.
And yet, it doesn't lose its bass character and retains its beautiful overtones.
It speaks volumes about the significance of boosting with a 2-band EQ.
The string height is extremely low when shipped, and even in this state, the strings have plenty of flex, with no strange issues in any position.
The precision of the neck, which has long been highly praised, is superb, and its quality is fully demonstrated.
It is characterized by an extremely fast, speedy playing feel.
And yet, it still has ample bass, producing a rich, treble-rich sound.
This is a supreme instrument, made possible only by Mr. Kikuchi's modern-day bass craftsmanship.
GIB craftsmen will adjust it for optimal playability before delivery.
