dragonfly is a Japanese guitar and bass brand with a long history.
Using knowledge and technology cultivated with musicians, the company manufactures high-quality products.
Many musicians use the brand's basses, including Tejan Tetsuya of Fear.and loathing in Las Vegas, who has been using the brand's basses for many years.
Dragonfly has several models, but this model is the newly launched CL-SPB5 in the classic PB style.
It is a superb piece of work that incorporates high-quality hardware with the stable, high quality that only Japanese manufacture can offer.
It is basically a simple 5-string PB.
An active circuit is incorporated into it, allowing for sound creation that goes one step further.
Personally, I recommend using the passive circuit mainly and switching on the active circuit only when the situation calls for it.
That's how good the sound is with the passive.
In this particular model, the body is made of ash and the fingerboard is made of Perferro.
The frets are made of nickel, not stainless steel, and are thin and raised. Classic.
The pre-amp can be either original or made by Darkglass, in this case the original type.
The impression is that it converts the impedance with a natural and honest sound.
Controls are volume, passive tone, treble, middle, bass and preamp on/off SW.
The sound is solid and robust like a PB, with plenty of delicious mid-range that you can't get from a JB.
As is typical of dragonfly, it is also smooth and comfortable to play.
Surprisingly, there are not many 5-string PBs to choose from.
This is a highly recommended one.
