Description & Condition
Cort is Korea's leading guitar brand.
The company owns its own factory and has a global presence, especially in OEM manufacturing. For example, Ibanez and PRS are famous for being manufactured at Cort's guitar factory.
This in-house brand is produced using the knowledge gained through OEM manufacturing.
The Elrick NJS4 is a collaboration model between Cort and Elrick.
Elrick is a handmade brand created by builder Rob Elrick.
Since its founding in the United States in 1992, it has garnered support from many musicians for its high quality.
Cort and Elrick's relationship dates back more than 20 years.
They jointly developed the Elrick e-volution Bass model, which was very well received.
It was out of this relationship that the NJS series was created to mark Elrick's 30th anniversary.
NJS stands for New Jazz Standard. It literally aims for a modern JB style.
The body is made of alder, and the neck and fingerboard are made of maple.
It has a classic wood construction.
The neck is made of beautiful straight-grained maple.
Compared to flat-grained wood, it has a tighter, more direct sound.
While the sound is a matter of personal preference, I think it matches the modern JB feel of this model very well.
Also, taking advantage of the company's large in-house factory, the fact that they have specifically selected and used wood in this price range shows that this is a product with a purpose.
It has 24 frets and a 12"" fingerboard radius.
The headstock is angled to apply appropriate tension to the nut.
The use of a zero fret is also unique.
By having the fret itself take on the role of the zero fret, which is usually performed by the nut, it is possible to unify the sound of open and pressed strings. Another advantage is that it gives you more flexibility in setting the gauge and reduces unnecessary friction at the nut.
The fret edges are very smooth, so no one will feel stressed.
The original pickups, called Voiced Tone, were designed by Cort engineers.
They usually work with pickups from top brands such as Nordstrand, Bartolini, and PRS, and the quality of the pickups, designed with this accumulated knowledge, is said to be close to those of those brands.
The preamp was custom designed by Bartolini and features a 3-band EQ.
It outputs a powerful and flexible signal generated by the pickups, which are designed to mimic vintage tones.
The tuning machines are the world-renowned Hipshot Ultralite.
It prevents head dive while adding a light, rich midrange to the sound.
When you actually hold it, it naturally feels like a JB. It's well-balanced and puts no strain on your body, allowing you to concentrate on playing.
The sound, crafted with high-quality electronics, is very impressive, making it a truly modern JB.
A masterpiece carefully assembled with excellent hardware and tonewoods.
As it's made in Indonesia, it seems to have an advantage over other brands in terms of price.
This is a must-try for anyone who has a negative impression of low-priced or Indonesian-made basses as being of low quality. You'll be amazed.
The GIB re-inspects and corrects the product to ensure the highest possible quality.
