AV Basses is a high-end Czech brand that attracted a lot of attention when Jamiroquai bassist Paul Turner started using their products.

The brand was founded in the 1990s by professional bassist Ales Vychodil.

At the time, major musical instrument manufacturers supplied numerous basses to the market, but none met his requirements.
To satisfy his own needs, he began making custom basses himself.

In the 2000s, the brand began producing OEM basses for Western boutique brands, making the world aware of its advanced manufacturing technology.

I met builder Ales at the Guitar Summit in Germany in 2019.
He has a wonderful personality, is very adventurous, and always considerate of players.

I have placed several orders with them since 2019, and they have provided me with consistent quality.
I believe this consistency not only demonstrates the brand's strength, but is also universally important.

This model was on display at the 2025 Guitar Summit.

It features many modern elements, such as a single-cut neck and a through-body design.

The body is constructed of flamed ash on top, rosewood sandwiched between layers of alder in the back.

It has a neck-through construction, with the neck laminated between maple and wenge.

This method of laminating the neck is used by many brands to reduce left-right and individual differences and achieve greater stability.

The bridge and tuning machines are made by HIPSHOT.

The pickups are Aguilar dual-coil types, and the preamp is also an Aguilar OBP-3.

Controls include volume (active/passive switch), balancer, middle (400/800Hz center frequency switch), and treble/bass.

It is characterized by extremely high playability, and even those who don't usually play 6-string guitars will find it easy to pick up.

When you play it, the smooth sound attack is so pleasant you'll want to keep playing forever.
Similar to neck-through style instruments from Ken Smith and Fodera, it has an appealing texture that produces a beautiful, piano-like sound with a light touch.
