AV Basses is a high-end Czech brand that gained a lot of attention when Jamiroquai bassist Paul Turner started using it.
The brand was started in the 1990s by professional bassist Ales Vychodil.
At the time, major instrument makers supplied many basses to the market, but none of them met his needs.
In order to satisfy his needs, he started making his own custom basses.
In the 2000s, he began OEM production for boutique brands in Europe and the United States, making his manufacturing skills known to the world.
I met builder Ales at Guitar Summit in Germany in 2019.
He is a man of great character and a strong desire to challenge himself, but always with a concern for the player.
We have placed several continuous orders with him since 2019 and he has provided us with consistent quality.
This stability is universally important to the brand as well as a sign of groundwork.
This model is inspired by the JB style, but actively incorporates more modern specifications.
The body is made of flame maple for the top and back.
The core is made of poplar to balance the weight and sound.
The neck is made of slightly grained maple, and the fingerboard is made of Perferro.
The body and neck are finished with a vintage-style lacquer.

The tuners and bridge are HIPSHOT as usual, and the pickups are Nordstrand Big Single.

It feels like a proper modern update of the JB, and is comfortable for many modern professional bassists.
