Description & Condition
Sadowsky is a brand that began in 1979 when Roger Sadowsky opened his workshop in New York.
Based on his experience as a repairman, working on instruments for many session musicians, his basses have earned immense trust in the New York studio scene.
They are also known for being favored by many top professionals, including Marcus Miller and Will Lee.
Since 2019, Sadowsky has had a licensing agreement with Warwick of Germany. While the NYC custom shop remains, Warwick now handles the production of the Metro and MetroExpress series.
The MetroExpress is an entry-level series that allows you to experience the Sadowsky sound at a more accessible price.
It is manufactured in Asia and finished under continuous quality control.
This particular instrument is a 24-Fret Modern Bass, a 5-string model.
It features a modern body shape with 24 frets and two Sadowsky Soapbar pickups in modern positions (middle and bridge).
Unlike typical Jazz Bass-style basses, this bass boasts a thick, well-defined mid-low range.
The color is Solid Black High Polish.
The glossy black finish, accented by chrome hardware, creates a simple yet sharp look.
The body is made of Okoume, and the neck is Roasted Maple.
Okoume is a lightweight wood, contributing to its ease of handling despite being a 5-string bass.
Roasted Maple is a material whose stability is enhanced by high-temperature processing that removes moisture.
The fingerboard is Morado (Pau Ferro), giving it a warm look similar to rosewood.
The circuitry features Sadowsky's signature active 2-band preamp.
Controls are Volume, Balance, Treble, and Bass.
Sadowsky's preamp is designed specifically for boosting; simply turning up the knob adds punchy lows and clear highs, allowing you to quickly achieve your desired sound.
The volume knob's push-pull function allows you to bypass the preamp, giving you the option to switch between passive and passive sounds.
The hardware is also top-of-the-line, featuring a Sadowsky Just-A-Nut III nut, open-gear Sadowsky Light tuners, and a Sadowsky original bridge that allows for quick string changes.
The string spacing is 18mm, a standard setting for a 5-string guitar.
It offers a balanced sound that's easy to handle for both fingerstyle and slap playing.
This guitar delivers the characteristic fullness and clarity of a Sadowsky sound, all in a 24-fret 5-string configuration.
Please give it a try.
