Description & Condition
Gibson is a king of guitars, having produced numerous legendary instruments.
While their guitars are particularly popular, their basses, with their distinctive looks and rock-oriented sound, are also extremely popular.
This model is a 1979 Ripper Bass.
It's an original fretless model.
The serial number on the back of the headstock is "70509085," indicating it was manufactured in 1979.
The last four digits of the potentiometers, "78XX," indicate the year of manufacture, 1978.
Considering other specifications, we determined it was manufactured in 1979.
The body and neck are made of maple, and the fingerboard is ebony.
It's equipped with two Bill Lawrence-designed Original Super Humbucker pickups.
It boasts a thick, deep rock sound characteristic of Gibson.
When combined with the fretless design, it transforms into a sweeter sound.
The truss rod is stiff, but it can be adjusted to about 90 degrees.
The neck has some upward bowing, and the bridge is fully lowered, so it can be played without problems after adjusting it 1.0mm higher than the GIB standard (3.0mm-3.5mm at the 12th fret).
The body and paintwork have scratches and dents.
The electronics are in good condition.
The jack was replaced at GIB.
The jack is a current Switchcraft model.
