The Tube Booster was designed as a pure vacuum tube booster, completely eliminating amplification elements such as ICs and FETs.
Therefore, its output impedance was not designed to be low.
The Beyond Tube Buffer + addresses this issue, being designed to function as a buffer rather than a booster.
Like modern effects pedals, it maintains a wide frequency range, preserving the ultra-low frequencies and beautiful presence of multi-string basses.
Simply running the signal through it dramatically increases the density from the low to mid frequencies, providing the unique tube nuances of subtle compression and saturation.
Bassists often have to use line-in signals via DI boxes in many situations.
In such cases, they often feel a lack of the fat, amp-like nuance, leading to a sense of "difficulty in playing" and "dissatisfaction." In such situations, Beyond's Booster and Buffer should compensate for the warmth and fullness that cannot be obtained with line-level or small, lightweight amplifiers.
The vacuum tube used is the Electro Harmonix 12AU7EH, prioritizing sound over cost.
Other electronic components were also selected with performance as the top priority, without any cost-cutting measures that would compromise functionality or quality.
Due to its nature as a buffer, this product is intended to be used in a constantly ON state.
Therefore, the footswitch operates to switch between OUTPUT and TUNER OUT.
The volume knob has been intentionally omitted and placed on the side.
The built-in preset volume allows for necessary level settings depending on the situation, which is a welcome feature.
The Beyond Tube Booster is recommended for old-style bassists, while the Beyond Tube Buffer + is recommended for modern-style bassists.
There are some minor scratches and signs of use. It is in good working order.
