Description & Condition
Description & Condition
Sugi is a brand founded by Mr. Sugimoto, a legend who has supported Japanese guitar making for many years.
They manufacture high-quality guitars and basses in Nagano Prefecture, and are highly regarded by many musicians.
Their basses are known to be favored by musicians such as Hojin Egawa and Mike Porcaro of TOTO.
This instrument is the RMBⅡ (Rainmaker Bass Ⅱ), a USA-made model where the woodworking and painting are done in a California workshop, and the final assembly and setup are done at the Sugi workshop in Japan.
While the flagship model, Night Breeze (NB), features a flowing curved top, the Rainmaker series adopts an orthodox JB style with a flat top and pickguard.
The body is made of ash, and the neck and fingerboard are made of maple.
The pickups are original PJ style.
By blending the output of the split coil in the neck position and the single coil in the bridge position, it is possible to set the bass to suit the demands of the song or ensemble.
This is a practical guitar that combines orthodox specifications with high playability thanks to Sugi's meticulous setup.
Fret life is approximately 90%.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and paintwork have some dents and paint cracks, but due to the aged finish, it cannot be definitively said whether these were acquired later.
The electronics are in good condition.
No obvious modifications were observed.
