Black Smoker is a handmade brand launched in 2016 by BLACK CLOUD, a workshop in Azumino City, Nagano Prefecture.
The instruments, crafted by two highly experienced builders, are supported by numerous professional musicians, including Shunsuke Ochi, Futoshi Sakai, and Ren Yamamoto.
This model is a 5-string passive JB-type bass, the BETA J5.
The body is made of ash, and the fingerboard is rosewood.
The pickups are original.
GOTOH hardware is used.
In addition to the straightforward response typical of passive JB-type basses, it possesses the punch and open playability of a 4-string bass, despite being a 5-string.
It's a highly practical instrument that naturally cuts through in an ensemble.
The frets have approximately 70% remaining.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and paintwork show a small dent of about 5.0mm near the control area.
The electronics are in good condition.
No obvious modifications were observed.
