Description & Condition

Cort is a leading guitar brand from South Korea.

They own their own factory and have a global presence, particularly in OEM manufacturing. For example, Ibanez and PRS guitars are famously manufactured at Cort's factory.

This in-house brand utilizes the knowledge gained from OEM manufacturing.

The Elrick NJS5 is a collaboration model between Cort and Elrick.

Elrick is a handmade brand by builder Rob Elrick.

Founded in the United States in 1992, it has garnered support from many musicians due to its high quality.

The relationship between Cort and Elrick dates back more than 20 years.

They jointly developed the Elrick e-volution Bass model, which was very well received.

The NJS series was created to commemorate Elrick's 30th anniversary, building on this relationship.

NJS stands for New Jazz Standard. It literally aims for a modern JB style.

The body is made of alder, and the neck and fingerboard are made of maple.

This guitar features a classic wood construction.

The neck is made of beautiful quarter-sawn maple.

Compared to flat-sawn wood, it produces a tighter, more direct sound.

While sound characteristics are a matter of personal preference, I think it perfectly matches the modern JB-like feel of this model.

Furthermore, leveraging the advantages of having a large in-house factory, the fact that they specifically selected and used wood at this price point demonstrates that this is a product with a clear purpose.

This guitar features 24 frets and a 12"" fingerboard radius.
The headstock is angled to ensure proper tension on the nut.

A unique feature is the inclusion of a zero fret.
This design assigns the function of the zero fret (usually the nut) to the fret itself, unifying the sound of open and fretted strings. It also offers greater flexibility in gauge selection and reduces unnecessary friction at the nut.

The fret edges are incredibly smooth; no one should experience any discomfort here.

The original pickups, called Voiced Tone, were designed by Cort's engineers.

They typically work with top brands like Nordstrand, Bartolini, and PRS, and the quality of these pickups, designed with their accumulated knowledge, is comparable to those brands.

The preamp is a custom design by Bartolini and features a 3-band EQ.

It powerfully and flexibly shapes and outputs the signal created by the vintage-inspired pickups.

The tuning machines are the globally renowned Hipshot. Ultralite.
I think it prevents head dive and at the same time adds a light and rich midrange to the sound.

When you actually hold it, you get a JB-like impression. It is an excellent design that allows you to concentrate on playing because it is very well balanced and does not put any strain on your body.

The sound created by high-quality electronics is very impressive, and it is truly a modern JB.

A masterpiece that carefully incorporates excellent hardware and tone wood.
Since it is made in Indonesia, it seems to have an advantage over other brands in terms of price.

This is a must-try item for those who have the impression that low-priced basses or basses made in Indonesia are of low quality. I think there will be some surprises.

Approximately 80% of the frets remain.
The condition of the truss rod is good.
The condition of the neck is good.
There are some small scratches scattered throughout the body and paintwork.
The electrical system is in good condition.
No obvious modification points were found.
