Description & Condition

Suhr Guitars is practically synonymous with high-end guitar brands.

Founder John Suhr began his career at Rudy's, a renowned New York guitar shop, and gained high acclaim for his work on Pensa Suhr guitars, amplifier design at CAE, and as a master builder at Fender.

Later, he established his own brand, Suhr Guitars.

While his guitars are particularly popular in Japan, as evidenced by his work at Pensa Suhr and Fender, his basses are also top-notch.

The Classic J, as the name suggests, is a model based on the classic JB bass.

The body is made of alder, and the fretboard is Indian rosewood, a classic construction.

The finish is lacquer with a light aged finish.

The neck is made of Quartersawn Maple.

It features a distinctive, straight grain.

This is a deliberate choice by the brand.

The frets are stainless steel, and the installation is truly masterful.

The bridge is a vintage-style GOTOH, and the tuners are HIPSHOT.

The pickups are original single-coils.

Suhr pickups are highly regarded for their exceptional quality.

What's particularly noteworthy about the playability is its smoothness.

Despite its extremely classic design, it's incredibly smooth.

Especially with Fender-style basses, you sometimes have to put in effort to get the most out of their sound.

This can require a lot of force in your left or right hand, and can be stressful.

In that respect, this bass is stress-free.

However, the sound is undeniably classic.

Those accustomed to Fender-style basses might even find it a little unusual.

This is a top-of-the-line JB model of the modern era.

Please give it a try.

The frets have approximately 90% remaining.

The truss rod is in good condition.

The neck is in good condition.

The body and paintwork show paint chipping, dents, and scratches, but due to the relic finish, it's impossible to determine if these are later-acquired damages.

The electronics are in good condition.

No obvious modifications were observed.
