Description & Condition
Yamaha is a leading Japanese brand that has supported the music scene both domestically and internationally since the early days of guitar and bass manufacturing in Japan. It is truly a brand that Japan can proudly present to the world.
Top musicians who transcend time, borders, and genres, including Nathan East, the next-generation technician Vincen García (who has recently gained explosive popularity worldwide), and Seiji Kameda in Japan, all use Yamaha basses (titles omitted).
The reason why so many renowned artists choose Yamaha instruments is undoubtedly due to the overwhelming quality of Japanese craftsmanship that the Yamaha brand has built up over many years, and the unwavering reliability it provides in the field.
While the company boasts several models considered masterpieces, this particular model is a gem from the "BB" series, highly regarded by players worldwide.
The BB series has undergone numerous model changes throughout its long history, but this BBP35 is a current model and belongs to the top-of-the-line Pro Series, manufactured by skilled craftsmen in a Japanese factory.
The body features a three-ply construction of Alder/Maple/Alder, with Maple sandwiched between layers of Alder.
The neck is a five-piece laminated type made of Maple and Mahogany.
By laminating multiple woods, rigidity is increased, providing stability that prevents extreme warping and twisting due to individual differences or environmental changes.
The fingerboard uses the classic Rosewood.
A notable feature of this instrument is Yamaha's unique design and technology.
The neck joint employs miter bolting, where screws are driven in at a 45-degree angle from the back of the body.
This dramatically improves the contact between the neck and body, resulting in rich resonance and sustain.
Furthermore, the instrument undergoes I.R.A. (Initial Response Acceleration) treatment, which provides appropriate vibration to the finished instrument, giving it a rich, resonant tone and response like a well-played instrument, even when brand new.
The hardware also showcases unique ingenuity.
The bridge features a unique design where the strings pass through the back of the body at a 45-degree angle, rather than the usual vertical.
This significantly reduces stress on the string pivot points while efficiently transmitting vibrations to the body, contributing to a richer, more resonant tone.
Standard top-loading is also an option.
The pickups are custom-designed YGD V7 P/J pickups.
The PJ layout is characterized by a powerful sound, combining the robust low-mids typical of PJ layouts with sharp, clear highs.
This pure and powerful tone, arguably the pinnacle of passive basses, has the potential to excel in a wide range of genres, from rock to pop, while maintaining a strong presence within an ensemble.
The frets have approximately 90% remaining.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and paintwork show some scratches overall, but no significant damage.
The electronics are in good condition.
No obvious modifications were observed.
