The Jazz Bass was released as a higher-end model of the Precision Bass.
Its sharp, clear sound is loved by many bassists, and it continues to receive overwhelming support and shines brightly even today.
This is the Deluxe Jazz Bass V, a limited edition model released in 2021 as a signature model for Kazuki Arai, bassist active in King Gnu, millennium parade, and other bands.
Based on the American Deluxe Jazz Bass that Arai used to love, this model was finished to pursue his ideal playability and sound.
The body is made of ash, the neck is roasted maple, and the fingerboard is rosewood.
You can feel the fast response characteristic of a roasted maple neck, and the definition of the low strings, which is important for a 5-string bass, is firmly maintained. The pickups and preamp are original.
The sound is clear and wide-ranging, possessing the characteristic clarity of a JB while maintaining a solid, thick low end.
Note that a regular model based on this one was released in 2023, but it features changes to the neck material and finish.
This 2021 limited edition model, with its Roasted Maple neck and nitrocellulose lacquer finish, more strongly reflects Mr. Arai's ideal.
