Description & Condition

Jad Freer Audio is a brand that designs and manufactures audio equipment, founded in Italy by Mauro Freddi and Giada Pezzi.

Mauro is an expert in electronics and audio, and he handles the electronic design to meet professional specifications.

Giada supports the hardware design, and their combination results in the production of high-quality items.

Originally known for its effects pedals, the company now also manufactures amplifiers and cabinets.

While primarily supported by European musicians, it is currently experiencing a rapid increase in global attention.

The SARTO is their clean preamp.

The popular CAPO was a multi-functional preamp with saturation, but its clean preamp section also received high praise.

This model is based on that circuit, with newly added practical features.

The controls are relatively simple: LEVEL, HPF, BASS, MID, MID FREQ, and TREBLE.

The BASS and TREBLE controls feature a center frequency selector switch, as well as polarity switches affecting the LINE OUT and DI OUT.

The LEVEL control boasts extremely low noise and vast headroom.

A key feature is its high input impedance.

This allows for the use of piezo pickups.

In other words, it's compatible not only with electric instruments but also with upright basses and synth basses.

The combination of high input impedance and low noise truly makes it a next-generation preamp.

Looking at the EQ section, the BASS control allows you to select a center frequency from 40Hz, 80Hz, and 160Hz.

40Hz is used in many preamps.

Basically, it allows for useful control of the depth characteristic of bass, but in some situations, the low-end component may be too much.

In that case, selecting 80Hz is recommended.

This frequency range controls only the perceived quantity of bass.

160Hz is a frequency range that can be described as either low or low-mid, adding thickness to the sound.

In addition, it features a high-pass filter (HPF), allowing for low-cutting down to 200Hz.

This versatile low-end control will be particularly appealing to bassists.

The MID control offers flexible selection of its center frequency from 100Hz to 10kHz.

The range is very wide.

The TREBLE control allows selection of center frequencies at 4kHz, 7kHz, and 10kHz.

It covers the range from treble to presence.

You can choose the desired texture, from attack-oriented nuances to metallic tones and string resonance.

Furthermore, despite packing all these functions into a compact enclosure, it even includes a DI OUT.

Yet, the sound is not small-scale at all; it's big and powerful.

A studio-grade masterpiece embodying the brand's philosophy.

Try it out for yourself.
