Description & Condition

Fender is, of course, the number one brand of electric guitars and basses.

It's loved by countless top artists, including James Jamerson, Bobby Vega, and Michael League. (Titles omitted)

The Mustang Bass is a bass guitar with a short scale and a compact body.

This is a Mustang Bass manufactured in 1973.

There is a stamp ""0400 XX23"" on the neck end, indicating 1972.

We found a CTS pot date ""1377310"" (10th week of 1973) and builder stamps such as ""HERB G"" and ""R. AYALA"" on the neck joint.

There is a stamp ""143873"" on the back of the pickup.

We determined the age by considering all these factors.

The body is made of alder, and the fingerboard is rosewood, a standard configuration.

The color is Competition Red.

It's a popular custom color with lines reminiscent of a racing car. While its cute appearance and short scale length often lead to concerns about a lack of bass, this isn't actually the case.

It produces a fatter sound than longer scales, resulting in a very distinctive tone that is sometimes more useful than anything else.

It also possesses a considerable vintage-like, well-worn nuance, making it a truly captivating instrument that you'll want to play again and again.

The frets have approximately 50% remaining.

The truss rod is in good condition.

The neck is in good condition.

The body and paintwork show numerous cracks, dents, and weather checking. The pickguard is warped due to age, and the hardware is heavily rusted. There is a dent near the first fret on the back of the neck.

The electronics are in good working order, with only slight crackling in the tone pot.

No obvious modifications were observed.
