Description & Condition

Suhr Guitars is practically synonymous with high-end guitar brands.

Founder John Suhr began his career at Rudy's, a renowned New York guitar shop, and gained high acclaim for his work on Pensa Suhr guitars, amplifier design at CAE, and as a master builder at Fender.

His work on his own brand, Suhr Guitars, is undeniably outstanding.

While he's particularly popular for his guitars in Japan, as evidenced by his work at Pensa Suhr and Fender, his basses are also top-notch.

This particular model is a Classic J, inspired by the JB bass.

The body is made of ash, and the fretboard is maple, a classic configuration.

The pickups are Humphry Suhr 65JBN, and the preamp is likely original, marked as JOHN SUHR 99 JST3B.

The tuning machines are HIPSHOT.

The sound, subtly colored by modern hardware, is delivered with superior playability.

This guitar features a refined and beautiful design around the neck, a testament to Suhr's top-notch craftsmanship in this area.

It's a textbook example of how good hardware, combined with a beautiful design and meticulous attention to detail, naturally produces a great sound.

The frets have approximately 70% remaining.

The truss rod is stiff, but approximately 90 degrees of movement has been confirmed.

The neck is in good condition.

The body and paintwork show minor scratches and small dents. There is some tarnishing and rust on the metal parts. There is a paint crack near the neck pocket.

The electronics are in good condition.

The neck pickup volume pot has been replaced.
