Spector is a guitar and bass brand started in 1974 in New York by Stuart Spector.
Shortly after its inception, Vinny Fodera, who would later establish Fodera Guitars, also worked at the Spector workshop.

The brand's NS model gained explosive popularity worldwide, and this was created in collaboration with Ned Steinberger.

Currently, Spector has production lines to meet a wide range of needs, including Czech and Asian-made instruments, but the heart of the brand is its workshop in Woodstock, New York.

Here, using carefully selected, top-quality woods, a small number of skilled craftsmen use advanced woodworking techniques to handcraft each and every instrument in the brand's top-of-the-line USA series. This instrument is the NS-5XL, the pinnacle of the USA series, produced at the Woodstock workshop.

As the "XL" in the model name suggests, this is a 5-string guitar with a 35-inch scale length.

This longer scale length, combined with the robust neck-through construction, ensures that even the low-B string maintains a clear pitch, producing a tight and massive bass output.

The neck is a maple neck-through construction, and the fingerboard is made of Pau Ferro with beautifully shimmering abalone crown inlays.

The body wings feature an eye-catching combination of a Buckeye Burl top and Black Walnut back, creating an exotic look.

The headstock appears to be Formica, but there is a possibility it is Fiberboard.

The finish appears glossy, but it is likely that it was originally a matte finish that has developed a semi-gloss sheen through years of use.

The body features Spector's signature 3D curved design (NS shape), which feels like it's molded to the body. Maintaining perfect balance whether standing or sitting, this guitar boasts superior playability that reduces player stress even during long stage performances.

It features EMG 40DC pickups and an 18V-powered HAZ (2-band EQ) preamp.

This is a familiar and quintessential Spector combination.

The sound is characterized by an incredibly dense low-mid range with a slight saturation.

This is the so-called "Spector Growl," a powerful and distinctive Spector identity.

Yet, it possesses a moderate level of compression and a hard, fast, tight attack—a truly impressive sound.

Whether fingerpicking, picking, or slapping, it cuts through the ensemble with its overwhelming presence.

This is a top-of-the-line instrument, truly worthy of being called a lifelong investment, packed with the pride of the Woodstock workshop.

The frets have approximately 70% remaining.

The truss rod is stiff, but approximately 90 degrees of movement has been confirmed.

The neck is in good condition.

The body and paintwork show some small dents and scratches on the body and fretboard. There is some paint peeling on the back of the neck. Also, the body paint is slightly cloudy.

The electronics are in good condition.

No obvious modifications were observed.
