Description & Condition

Spector is a guitar and bass brand founded in 1974 by Stuart Spector in New York.

Initially, Vinny Fodera, who would later establish Fodera Guitars, also worked at the Spector workshop.

The brand's NS models gained explosive popularity worldwide, a result of collaboration with Ned Steinberger.

Currently, Spector has production lines to meet a wide range of needs, including Czech and Asian-made instruments, but the heart of the brand is its workshop in Woodstock, New York.

Here, a small number of skilled craftsmen use carefully selected, top-of-the-line woods and advanced woodworking techniques to handcraft each and every instrument in the USA series, the brand's highest-end line.

This particular instrument is the NS-5XL, the pinnacle of the USA series, produced at that Woodstock workshop.

This model features a fretless design.

As indicated by the "XL" in the model name, this instrument is a 5-string model with a 35-inch scale length.

The combination of this longer scale length and robust neck-through construction ensures a clear sound image even on the 5th string's Low-B, and reliably outputs the supple and unique bass tones created by the fretless design.

The neck is a maple neck-through construction, and the fingerboard is made of Pau Ferro.

The body wings feature a combination of a quilted maple top with a beautifully undulating grain and a black walnut back.

The finish is an oil finish that allows you to directly feel the texture of the wood, bringing out the instrument's raw resonance.

The body features Spector's signature 3D curved design (NS shape), which feels like it's molded to your body.

It maintains perfect balance whether standing or sitting, boasting excellent playability that reduces player stress even during long stage performances.

The pickups are EMG 40DC, and the preamp is an 18V-powered HAZ (2-band EQ).

This is a familiar and truly classic combination for Spector.

At the heart of the sound is undoubtedly Spector's unique character.

While possessing the lustrous undulation and sweetness characteristic of fretless basses, the ultra-dense low-mids known as the "Spector Graul" remain intact.

The moderate compression and edgy tone give a sharp definition to the singing sustain of the fretless, resulting in a sound that cuts through the ensemble.

A one-of-a-kind fretless tone that cuts through the ensemble, brimming with the pride of the Woodstock workshop.

This is truly a top-of-the-line instrument worthy of being called a lifelong possession.

The truss rod is stiff, but approximately 90 degrees of movement has been confirmed.

The neck is in good condition.

The body and paintwork show some small dents and scratches on the body and fretboard.

The electronics are in good condition.

This guitar has been converted to fretless.
