Ibanez is a leading Japanese guitar and bass brand, globally renowned alongside Fender and Gibson.
This is the MDM1606, a 6-string model that incorporates the brand's accumulated expertise in multi-string basses and practical specifications.
The body top features eye-catching Poplar Burl with an exotic grain, while the back is made of Alder.
The neck is made of Roasted Maple, which has been heat-treated to enhance the wood's stability.
Furthermore, a graphite reinforcement rod is built into the neck, providing extremely high rigidity against strong tension and environmental changes.
It features a C-shaped neck profile exclusive to the MDM series, offering exceptional comfort.
The neck heel is recessed and rounded for easy access to the higher positions, and fluorescent dots are embedded in the side of the fretboard.
The fretboard is made of Rosewood and features highly visible white dot inlays.
The frets are made of medium-sized stainless steel for superior wear resistance. It maintains a fast, clear sound response and smooth playing feel for slides and vibrato over a long period of time.
The bridge features an MR5S bridge with an independent structure for each string.
The saddles can be moved ±1.5mm left and right, allowing for arbitrary adjustment of the string spacing.
This player-oriented design comfortably accommodates a variety of playing techniques such as slap and fingerpicking.
The pickups are passive Delta S6J type, mounted in the front and rear positions.
They employ neodymium magnets, stainless steel pole pieces, and a hum-canceling structure, producing a punchy sound that firmly supports the foundation of the ensemble.
The preamp is an Ibanez Sonitech S Preamp.
It delivers a natural sound without excessive coloration of the original tone, allowing for a wide range of sound shaping in combination with the master tone.
It also features an EQ bypass function via push/pull operation of the volume knob.
Furthermore, the combination of the 3-way Mid frequency switch and the unique Hexa Mid system is particularly noteworthy. The switch on the back panel allows you to switch between two modes as follows:
* H (High) mode: 350Hz, 600Hz, 1kHz
* L (Low) mode: 250Hz, 450Hz, 850Hz
This allows you to access a total of six different mid-range frequencies using the 3-way switch, and precisely control them with the mid-range knob.
Because you can pinpoint and adjust the mid-range frequencies that affect the clarity of the bass, you can create a tone that fits perfectly into any genre or ensemble.
The sound is characterized by clear pitch from the Low-B on the 6th string to the High-C on the 1st string, combining a wide range with a tight, fast attack.
No matter where you play across the wide range of the multi-string bass, the separation of notes is excellent, making it highly compatible with everything from technical solos with many notes to heavy, modern ensembles.
This sophisticated 6-string bass boasts high playability to meet the demanding requirements of players and features comprehensive hardware for a wide range of sound shaping.
Fret life is approximately 90%.
