Description & Condition

This item has been leveled using PLEK.

The string height at the 12th fret will be 1.5mm for the G string and 2.0mm for the E string (2.3mm for the Low-B string).

Fender is, of course, the number one brand of electric guitars and basses.

It is loved by countless top artists such as James Jamerson, Bobby Vega, and Michael League. (Titles omitted)

The Jazz Bass was released as a higher-end model than the Precision Bass.

Its sharp and clear sound is loved by many bassists, and it continues to receive overwhelming support and shines brightly even today.

This model is a replica model from Fender's top-of-the-line Masterbuilt series (MBS), based on the specifications of the 1961 model, a transitional period for the early Jazz Bass.

It was crafted by Kyle McMillin, a master builder at the Fender Custom Shop.

He served as an assistant to Senior Master Builder Yuriy Shishkov for many years, inheriting his exceptional woodworking and meticulous assembly techniques, and is highly regarded as a skilled builder.

The body is made of carefully selected alder, and the fingerboard is made of rosewood—a classic combination.

The fingerboard is luxuriously crafted from AAA-grade rosewood, the highest quality, and features a thick 9mm slab construction, a key characteristic of the 1961 specifications.

Particularly noteworthy is the Quartersawn Maple used for the neck.

While it is an incredibly dense and high-quality quarter-sawn wood, a subtle flame grain is also visible, demonstrating the selection of extremely luxurious wood, typical of a Masterbuilt instrument.

The finish is a lacquer finish that retains a glossy sheen while having a moderate aged look.

This is an irresistible feature for players who appreciate a luxurious feel and appearance.

Furthermore, the body features a relic finish that realistically replicates the damage of a guitar played in demanding environments for many years.

The stunning aura created by the ultra-thin lacquer finish and the rich, raw resonance of the wood are simply irresistible.

While this instrument is listed as a 1961 model on the certificate, the control section uses a 3-knob configuration rather than the early stacked knobs.

According to the included SHOP FLOOR TRAVELER, the specifications appear to be based on a 1964 model.

This kind of blend of desirable, niche specifications is a unique charm of Custom Shop instruments.

The neck pickup is a VINT J-BASS RHYTHM REL, and the bridge pickup is a H/W VINT J-BASS LEAD REL.

These pickups are hand-wound by skilled craftsmen and meticulously aged to match the overall character of the instrument.

The actual sound is a classic Fender sound, with a rich, full-bodied, sticky bass and the sharp, beautiful treble characteristic of a Jazz Bass.

The meticulous construction by the master builder, combined with the ultra-thin relic finish, allows the entire instrument to resonate richly, and the powerful low-end provides a solid foundation for the ensemble.

This is a superb tone and feel, assembled by a top-class builder with deep respect for vintage instruments and practicality.

This is a masterpiece of overwhelming quality that every bassist should experience at least once in their life.

The frets have approximately 80% remaining.

The truss rod is stiff, but it has been confirmed to move about 90 degrees.

The neck is in good condition.

The body and paint surface have dents, scratches, and weather chips, but due to the relic finish, it cannot be said for certain whether they were acquired later.

The electronics are in good condition. No obvious modifications were observed.
