Stem is a brand produced by Sago New Material Guitars, a handmade brand based in the Kansai region of Japan.

It's positioned between Sago, which specializes in custom-order production, and Seed, which achieves high quality through excellent quality control while keeping costs down by manufacturing overseas.

It's known for producing models that retain Sago's high quality while keeping costs down by fixing specifications and shapes.

This model is the Stem version of Sago's flagship model, the Classic Style J4.

The body is made of alder, the fingerboard is rosewood, and the neck is hard maple, a classic wood combination.

The finish is Sago's signature thin lacquer.

Furthermore, it has been given a realistic aged finish, giving it an outstanding look.

The staff member who applied this aging finish was formerly a Fender craftsman and was part of the team of the highly acclaimed master builder Carlos Lopez.

He mainly worked on relic finishing for Carlos's team and was highly regarded both inside and outside the company.

While several relic finishes are available, this one features the most extreme "Super Heavy Aged" finish.

The pickups are the original L(x) BJ4s.

With a slightly increased winding count, these pickups blend easily into ensembles and have excellent projection.

The tuning keys are Gotoh GB528s, and the bridge is a spiral saddle type.

These hardware components have also been aged, and combined with the "Heavy Aged" finish on the body, they exude the look and feel of a vintage guitar that has been played for many years.

The sound possesses the open nuances characteristic of Stem guitars.

While featuring a strong, punchy low-mid range, it boasts a very well-balanced output from low to high frequencies, resulting in a straightforward and easy-to-handle sound.

Stem is not simply a cheaper version of Sago.

With its outstanding paint quality, honed through training at Fender Custom Shop, and flexibility focused on high-demand order specifications, it holds its own against numerous high-end instruments.
