Freedom is a Tokyo-based guitar workshop that enjoys overwhelming support from professional musicians in Japan, and in recent years, its name has begun to resonate overseas.
Originally highly regarded for its repair work, the workshop now focuses on manufacturing, and their creations are loved by many musicians for their high quality and rational design sense.
All basses from this brand are manufactured in Tokyo.
Through strict quality control, the wood used is carefully selected, and any wood that does not meet the standards is not used in the products.
This level of quality control is possible precisely because it is a small workshop.
In that sense, the quality is fundamentally different from that of products made in large factories.
This model is the Anthra, exhibited at Sound Messe in Osaka 2026.
As you can see, it has very luxurious specifications.
The body top is Redwood, the center is Purpleheart, and the back is Alder.
The color is the original "Devil," a very vivid finish that highlights the wood grain.
The neck is made of maple, and the fretboard is rosewood.
The frets are original stainless steel.
These are the WARM type, retaining the advantages of stainless steel—not too hard, and maintaining its shine.
The pickups are an original design.
The warm yet powerful nuance is unique to these pickups.
The original preamp has a pushed nuance, giving it a nice active feel.
The acoustic aspects are refined, making this aspect particularly pleasing.
Overall, it's traditional, yet its tight vibration is very distinctive.
Simply high quality, it's a JB-like instrument that also meets more modern demands.
