Description & Condition
Fender is, of course, the number one brand of electric guitars and basses.
It's loved by countless top artists, including James Jamerson, Bobby Vega, and Michael League. (Titles omitted)
The Precision Bass, introduced in 1951 as the world's first fretted solid-body electric bass, has been loved by bassists worldwide for over half a century.
This is a Precision Bass manufactured in 1973.
The neck end is stamped ""5JAN73B"".
Both potentiometers are dated ""304-7304"", and both pickups are dated ""7573"".
The age was determined by considering the serial number and overall specifications.
The body is alder, and the fingerboard is rosewood.
A classic combination with a rich midrange.
The pickups are original gray bobbins.
Both the volume and tone potentiometers appear to be original.
The capacitor has been replaced with a Sprague Black Beauty.
While famously used in Gibson Les Pauls, its juicy, fat mid-low range sound characteristics also suit bass guitars well.
The jack has been replaced with a current SWITHCRAFT jack.
There is a repair mark on the fretboard, indicating a gap in the wood grain or a crack, from the 14th fret to the end of the fretboard, and similar symptoms are visible from the 14th to the 19th fret.
Currently, there are no playability issues, but there is a risk of the fretboard cracking when the truss rod is tightened in the future.
This bass is characterized by its thick low end and open midrange, typical of a Precision Bass.
With its unchanging standard specifications, it fits all genres, including R&B, rock, and pop.
Approximately 50% of the frets remain.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck has a slight forward bow on the bass string side, causing a slight buzz when playing in the higher positions. The guitar is playable with string height adjusted to GIB standards.
The body and paintwork show scratches, dents, and paint cracks.
The electronics are in good condition.
The nut has been replaced. While it's not certain whether it has been refretted, it appears to have been leveled. The capacitor is a Sprague Black Beauty.
