Saitias Guitars is a bass guitar brand based in Chigasaki.
They have collaborated with numerous professional artists, including RADWIMPS and Wakazaemon, demonstrating their high level of reliability. (Titles omitted)
This is the Lexell 5, a model known to be a favorite of Wakazaemon.
As can be seen from the pickup placement, it is basically aimed at a JB-style sound.
This particular instrument is a show model created for Sound Messe in Osaka in May 2026.
This model is modeled after a 1977 Fender JB owned by Marcus Miller.
The body is made of swamp ash, and the fretboard is maple, a popular combination.
The use of relatively lightweight ash is a modern choice.
While the pickups are usually original, this one uses a Lollar Pickups 70's Pickups Strings Set.
It also adopts the 70s Fender design with the bridge pickup slightly shifted towards the body end.
The preamp is a Bartolini TCT.
The bridge and tuning machines are made by HIPSHOT.
As the specifications show, the parts selection is excellent and consistent.
Due to the single-cutaway body, neck vibration is controlled to be more suppressed, resulting in a slightly tighter sound.
The beautiful finish of the neck, frets, and nut ensures high playability, which is a major plus.
Also noteworthy is the paintwork.
Saitias' painting techniques are truly exceptional; the vibrancy of the colors and the beauty of the finish are top-notch.
Compared to a standard Lexell 5, the sound is more massive and powerful, with a captivatingly crisp high end.
It has a different feel from the typical modern high-range active bass, possessing a strong NYC sound nuance.
Yet, it boasts high playability, and the subtly refined tone prevents it from becoming overly peaky.
It's a masterpiece that showcases the fusion of the manufacturer's strong concept and leading sound design in the bass world, resulting in a beautifully balanced instrument.
