Description & Condition
Fender is, of course, the number one brand of electric guitars and basses.
It's loved by countless top artists, including Jaco Pastorious, Marcus Miller, and Geddy Lee. (Titles omitted)
The Precision Bass, the world's first fretted solid-body electric bass, instantly captivated bassists worldwide. Its brilliance remains unchanged and it continues to be loved even more than half a century after its creation.
The bass evolved from its original form, known as the Original Precision Bass, to the look we're familiar with today in the 1950s.
This is a Precision Bass manufactured in 1963.
While retaining its vintage original parts, practical repairs have been made in key areas to ensure it can withstand professional use.
The neck end is stamped "5 NOV 63 C."
The age was determined from other specifications.
The body is alder, and the fingerboard is Brazilian rosewood.
These are truly vintage specifications.
The fretboard is round-laminated, and the inlays are clay dots, typical of this era.
This combination was only seen from late 1962 to early 1964, making it quite rare.
The body has been refinished in black.
The paint is lacquer.
Because it's a refinish, it's highly durable and has a great vintage feel.
The combination with the celluloid pickguard is really cool.
It has been refretted and renutted.
The finish is excellent; the thin frets maintain the look while providing excellent playability.
According to the previous owner, it was adjusted using a PLEK.
In fact, there is almost no fret wear, and there is plenty of truss rod adjustment remaining.
Not only is it a vintage bass, but it's in an unparalleled condition.
It's rare to find one in such good condition, and that's part of this instrument's appeal.
The pickups have been replaced with late 1970s gray bobbin pickups.
The cavity is shielded, and the ground wire under the bridge is reinforced with copper foil tape. The potentiometers have been replaced with current CTS parts, and the jack with a current Pure Tone part; all wiring has been replaced accordingly.
The capacitor is the original Red Dime.
This is a modern modification.
It completely eliminates the noisy impression of the vintage model.
The sound is also more refined.
With a strong, sustained low-mid base, and the fat attack characteristic of a Precision Bass, it produces a superb tone that powerfully drives the ensemble.
This is truly a Precision Bass.
This is a masterpiece that you should definitely try.
Fret wear is minimal.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck is in good condition. The strap pin on the back of the headstock is missing. The body and paintwork show signs of wear commensurate with its age, including dents, scratches, and paint peeling. The metal parts also show some tarnishing. There are traces of a previously installed bridge. The pickguard has some cracks due to the material's properties.
The electronics are in good condition.
The frets and nut have been replaced. The workmanship is high and the condition is excellent. The body has been refinished in black. The pickups have been replaced with late 1970s gray bobbin pickups. The cavity has been shielded. The ground wire under the bridge has been reinforced with copper foil tape. The potentiometers have been replaced with current CTS parts. The jack has been replaced with a current Pure Tone jack. Consequently, all wiring has been replaced.
