Description & Condition
Xotic is a brand founded in LA by Japanese builder Hiro Miura.
In Japan, it's used by many famous musicians, including Yoshiki Takahashi, BJ from indigo jam unit, and Katsushi Morioka. Internationally, it's used by Chuck Rainey, Rhonda Smith, Travis Carlton, and many others. (Titles omitted)
The XJ series, a line manufactured in Japan, has been highly regarded, especially among studio workers.
While fundamentally built in the Fender style, several aspects have been updated with modern touches.
The body is alder, and the fingerboard is rosewood.
A classic combination with a rich midrange.
The pickups are Raw Vintage.
Handmade in California, they are characterized by a clear, crisp, and raw sound.
The preamp is original.
The sound is well-balanced and refined from low to high frequencies.
It provides sufficient low frequencies while adding pleasant harmonics.
Playability is also very high, making it an overall high-level instrument.
For session and studio musicians in particular, there's always been a demand for a JB bass that combines modern playability and preamp features with a traditional sound.
However, few products meet this demand in terms of quality.
The Xotic XJ is one of the best solutions to meet that demand.
The frets have approximately 80% remaining.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and paintwork show some paint chipping, dents, and scratches, but since it's an aged finish, it's impossible to determine if these are later-acquired.
The electronics have some slight crackling at the preamp gain.
No obvious modifications were observed.
