Description & Condition

Freedom is a Tokyo-based guitar workshop that enjoys overwhelming support from professional musicians in Japan, and in recent years, its name has begun to resonate overseas.

Originally highly regarded for its repair work, the workshop now focuses on manufacturing, and its creations are loved by many musicians for their high quality and rational design sense.

All basses from this brand are manufactured in Tokyo.

Through strict quality control, the wood used is carefully selected, and any wood that does not meet the standards is not used in the products.

This level of quality control is possible precisely because it is a small workshop.

In that sense, the quality is fundamentally different from that of products made in large factories.

This is a custom-ordered GIB model.

It is a 4-string PB model with a special color scheme.

The color is a GIB original metallic pink based on the Shinobi series.

While based on a bright burgundy color, the finish emphasizes the beautiful wood grain of the ash body.

Previously, it had a black pickguard, but this time it's tortoiseshell. As expected, it has a cool finish.

The body is made of Light Ash 2P.

This wood was carefully selected to achieve this special coloring.

It's very lightweight, which is another attractive feature.

The fingerboard is Rosewood, and the frets are Eternal Fret Warm.

These frets are made of stainless steel, specifically a softer compound.

They have a nickel-like feel and the eternal shine of stainless steel.

Regarding the finish, the body is finished with urethane, which combines hardness, thinness, and high transparency.

FCGR's urethane finish has a charm that lacquer lacks, and we have great confidence in its quality.

When you actually play it, there's no doubt about the quality of its texture, sound, and playability.

This proves that urethane finishes aren't necessarily a negative thing.

The neck has a lacquer finish, with a texture somewhere between gloss and satin.

This is a feel that vintage Fender enthusiasts will appreciate.

The pickups are FCGR's highly regarded original vintage models.

The bouncy, light response characteristic of lightweight ash wood is particularly appealing.

While this kind of feel in a PB is in demand, it's not very common.

It's trebly, yet has ample bass.

The high playability, the fundamental sound quality, and the vintage feel—the way FCGR balances these elements so well is, in my opinion, its greatest appeal.

A superb instrument, just as expected.

Highly recommended.
