E.W.S. is a professional-use brand that offers a lineup of high-quality effects pedals.
E.W.S. is produced by PCI, an importer and distributor of top-class products such as Xotic and Z.VEX.
This is a drive pedal for bass.
The gain range is wide, from clean to deep high-gain sounds.
A toggle switch allows middle boost, normal, and middle cut.
These have finely tuned frequencies, 750 Hz for boost and 400 Hz for cut.
The amplification elements use low-noise operational amplifiers and FETs, which are popular for their tube-like texture.
The power supply is 9V compatible, but by boosting the voltage to 16V internally, the core is not destroyed even when the gain is increased, and a bouncy high frequency range can be obtained (according to the company).
When actually tinkering with it, a wide range of tones is noticeable.
From a classic drive sound with a gritty texture to a high-compression distortion sound like dark glass.
Despite its usual ultra-compact size, its content is ultra-serious.
