Anaconda Basses is a UK-based bass brand that has gained exceptional recognition in recent years, particularly in Europe and North America.

The Ultra J Essence Bass is one of the most dynamic brands today, having won awards from prestigious bass media outlets (such as Bass Guitar Magazine).

The Ultra J Essence series underwent a complete redesign in 2024, including improvements to its manufacturing process, resulting in further advancements.

It uses a 34.5-inch scale length, similar to the F-Bass BN5.

A 0.5-inch longer scale length is used to achieve particularly tight bass strings, resulting in a stronger fundamental tone.

Yet, the G string doesn't become overly tight, retaining a flexible nuance.

The slightly thicker C-shaped neck is designed to become flatter towards the higher frets, creating a D-shape.

This allows for smooth thumb positioning, demonstrating an organic shaping that goes beyond a simple uniform shape, and its purpose is clearly felt.

The neck incorporates two carbon fiber rods for increased strength. I feel that if the neck is too stiff, the low B and E strings can become unruly, but this seems to be resolved by the scale length.

The tuning machines are GOTOH RES O LITE.

Recently, GOTOH seems to be widely used, especially by European brands. It's a testament to their reliability.

RES O LITE is a lightweight type, and the tonal quality feels similar to HIPSHOT Ultralite.

It's not a bad option for those who dislike Japanese-made metal hardware.

The pickups are an original design.

They have a moderate amount of compression, a wide range, and a rich midrange.

The hum-canceling design and low noise are also major advantages.

The preamp paired with these is the original AC3-TZ Active 3-Band Preamp.

The controls are Volume/Passive Tone, Balancer, Middle (push-pull frequency band switching 250/800Hz), Treble/Bass.

The character of this preamp is very unique and high-quality. This bass delivers the expansive low end, crisp midrange, and punchy treble that bassists demand.
