Music Man emerged as Leo Fender’s second brand and quickly became beloved by bassists around the world.
That popularity continued even after the company was acquired by Ernie Ball, and Music Man basses remain widely embraced by bassists today.
Many renowned artists, including Louis Johnson and Flea, are known for using the company’s basses.
While the StingRay is by far the most popular model in the Music Man lineup, this one is a Sterling.
It features a slightly slimmer body shape than the StingRay, making it particularly comfortable to hold and play.
This particular instrument was manufactured in 2001.
The body is made of Ash, while the neck and fingerboard are Maple.
The neck features attractive birdseye figuring, which is said to occur only in hard Maple.
It is equipped with the original humbucking pickup and a 3-band active EQ.
The sound has the powerful, punchy low end and crisp attack that Music Man basses are known for.
With a pickup selector switch and a 3-band EQ, it offers a wide range of tonal options and delivers a strong, distinctive presence across a variety of genres, including rock and funk.
Approximately 90% of the fret life remains.
The truss rod is in good condition.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and finish show various dings and scratches. There are also pilot holes on the body top and the tortoiseshell-pattern pickguard for mounting a finger ramp.
The electronics are in good condition.
No obvious modifications were found.
