Ken Smith is one of the world's premier high-end electric bass manufacturers, based in Pennsylvania, USA.
The company is widely recognized as a pioneer in modern bass design, having developed the world's first 6-string bass and designed taper-core bass strings.
This model features the iconic BSR body shape.
The BSR was designed for performing bassists and is famously used by artists such as Marcus Miller and Melvin Davis.
When it comes to 7-string Ken Smith basses, Melvin Davis immediately comes to mind, and this instrument is his signature model.
As an EG model, it represents one of the higher-grade specifications in the lineup. The body features a five-piece construction of Figured Walnut, Mahogany, and Tiger Maple, and appears to be finished in lacquer.
The neck is a five-piece laminated construction centered around quartersawn Maple.
This laminated neck design minimizes variations between individual pieces of wood while providing exceptional rigidity and long-term stability.
The fingerboard is made from Macassar Ebony.
It is equipped with the original dual-coil pickups, each of which can be switched independently between series and parallel wiring.
The preamp is also the original Ken Smith unit.
